Adi Nampreet – My KY Journey

Part 6

Graduation Contemplation

Am I prepared?

It feels a little bit surreal to be sitting here writing this last blog before I graduate from my KRI Level One Training with Didar in Mackay. When I think back to the beginning, I remember feeling excited and curious as to what this journey would bring, but now after months of Zoom classes and a couple of scheduled flights to Mackay for the face-to-face immersives, homework, Sadhana practices and practice practicums, I’m on the home stretch to graduation. Next week I fly to Mackay to teach my final practicum, sit the theory assessment, sign the Code of Ethics, take the teachers oath and enjoy graduation day.

If I’m honest, I don’t feel perfectly prepared. The last part of this training has coincided with some pretty big changes in my life. There has been family deaths that have shook me, I’ve started a new job that has meant less time at home and far fewer hours to sit in practice on my mat as much as I would like to. Life has certainly delivered a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs, but yoga happens when we are in the midst of life challenges, when you feel tired and stretched to breaking point. That’s then you remember your mantra or return to your breath. Recently when I felt overwhelmed at work and caught in a loop of negativity, I automatically began repeating the Siri mantra. This sound current slices through negativity like a blade. My whole perspective shifted but that wasn’t all. The people I worked with also had a change of heart. The Siri mantra is a beautiful gift, and I carry it in my heart and allow the teachings hold me.

This training has been so much more than learning yoga theory and how to structure a class. I’ve learned the true meaning of yoga goes beyond union with our mind, body and Soul. Yoga is union with the Infinite. It’ remembering that we are not separate from the Source, that we are One and the same.

I see the world differently, choosing to respond to situations rather than react. Another one of the greatest gifts this journey has given me is Sangat, community. Even over Zoom the energy has always felt supportive. Our group has reminded me that I’m not walking this path alone, that others have faced the same juggling of jobs, family grief, and opposition, all while holding steady with their Sadhana. Knowing that has been a source of encouragement.

And then there’s the other side of this path. Stepping in to the role as teacher. This training isn’t about me, although, it definitely changes you, it’s about learning how to hold space for others to feel into change and to heal. It’s very humbling and makes me feel even more grateful to my teachers and the Lineage that flows through them.

As graduation approaches, I want to honour this journey, the changes in myself, the guidance from my teachers and the Golden Chain of teachers and Gurus who have walked his path. The whole journey has been a process of unlearning and learning. I’ve stretched and softened and broken down and cried. I’ve healed, laughed and felt everything in between, and through all of it, I’ve grown into someone who feels ready to carry this lineage of wisdom, discipline, and strength forward into my role as a teacher.

Much Love
Adi Nampreet xx
